Job Overview

 

TE Connectivity is seeking an experienced Senior Product Engineer (m/f/d) to support our fine-pitch board connector portfolio, with responsibilities spanning series support, manufacturing optimization, failure analysis, and test bench development. This role combines technical expertise in connector technology with structured engineering processes to deliver superior customer solutions and continuous improvement initiatives. 

This position requires both independent technical work and collaborative team engagement. The role involves laboratory testing, design review activities, and customer interface responsibilities. Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities and customer locations may be required.

Job Requirements

 

• Provide comprehensive technical support for existing fine-pitch board connector product lines
• Manage product specifications, design changes, and engineering change requests (ECRs)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product optimization, enhancement initiatives, NPI activities, and design verification testing
• Maintain technical documentation including product specifications and application notes 
• Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations for manufacturing issues and customer complaints
• Execute Design FMEA (DFMEA) and support in Process FMEA (PFMEA) activities  
• Identify and drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) opportunities across product portfolio and cost optimization measures while maintaining product performance and quality standards 
• Lead the development and continuous improvement of an accelerated fretting wear test bench, including mechanical design optimization, electrical measurement and data acquisition capabilities, advanced control system integration, and validation against industry standards and customer requirements. 
• Manage technical support and sustaining activities for legacy Baugruppenträger product portfolio including obsolescence management and product lifecycle activities 

What your background should look like

 

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
• Several years of professional experience in product engineering, preferably in the connector industry  with hands-on experience in fine-pitch connector technologies and applications
• Knowledge of automotive, industrial, or telecommunications connector markets
• Proficiency in mechanical design principles and electrical connector theory
• Experience with failure analysis techniques and root cause investigation methodologies 
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including stamping, molding, and plating operations
• Familiarity with test equipment design, data acquisition systems and reliability testing standards (USCAR, IEC, MIL-STD)
• Experience with CAD software (Pro/E, SolidWorks), simulation tools, and statistical methods (FMEA, DOE)
• Strong project leadership, customer focus, and technical communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean)
