Job Overview

The Senior, Tax leads and supports all aspects of tax compliance and administration. They are responsible for the timely completion and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, ERISA filings, and certain other filings/information reporting as required. Additionally, they assist with the development, implementation, and execution of efficient processes and perform other duties as assigned. 

What You Will Do

  • Support federal, state, and local income tax compliance with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Gather supporting documentation, prepare, and file various ERISA and other informational filings.
  • Assist with audits as required.
  • Lead the information reporting process for Forms 1099s and 1042s.
  • Engage in development, special projects, and other opportunities, including tax training, software training, HR-sponsored training, and give-back opportunities at Macy’s.
  • Take on other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Skills You Will Need

Interpersonal Skills: Effective interface with numerous partners within Macy’s, fostering collaborative relationships.

Research Skills: Proficiency in researching tax literature to stay updated on tax laws and regulations.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tax compliance and reporting.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills both internally and externally.

Independence: Capability to work independently, under minimal supervision, while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Mathematical Proficiency: Above-average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Critical Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to address tax-related challenges and opportunities.

Organization and Time Management: Excellent organization and time management skills to effectively manage tasks and meet deadlines.

Computer Proficiency: Knowledge of MS Office computer programs and proficiency in income tax software, preferably Onesource.

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. CPA preferred. 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs. 
  • This role involves performing essential job functions such as communication, collaboration, and use of office and computer systems. Responsibilities include the ability to access and review written and electronic information, and to move within the work environment and interact with workplace materials as needed to carry out job responsibilities.
