Technip Energies is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer in Abu Dhabi to lead telecom design and procurement on EPC projects and tenders, reporting to the Head of Discipline. The role covers planning and delivering basic, FEED and detailed telecommunication design for plants, offices and Instrumentation & Control systems, from design basis and shutdown philosophy to construction scope and drawings coordination. You will manage a team of engineers, ensure compliance with industry standards and the company HSE procedures, maintain document control, and support procurement and client coordination. We are currently seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer, reporting directly to the Head of the Department to join our team based in UAE, Abu Dhabi.

  1. Job Purpose and Scope

The Senior Telecommunication Engineer is primarily engaged in the design, signal coverage studies, and analysis of the telecommunication engineering requirements on a project, tender or proposal, and is responsible for the procurement / requisition of Telecommunication equipment on a project. He reports functionally to the Head of Discipline and operationally to one or more I&C Lead Engineers.

  1. Key Responsibilities

Be it in the context of preparation for a tender/proposal or involvement in a project, as Telecommunication discipline Engineer, his key responsibilities are:

  1. Planning and executing Telecommunication engineering design for plant’s, offices and Instrumentation & Control systems telecommunication requirement. This entails overseeing the preparation of basic design, FEED and detailed design of the telecommunication part of the project, such as:
  • Telecommunication design Basis and shut down philosophy.
  • Schedule and Cost Estimates relating to telecommunication.
  • EPC Scope of Work, 
  • Architecture/block Diagrams
  • Specifications for telecommunication systems, Cables, Subsea FO cable
  • Technical Bid Evaluations
  • Post order Vendor document review 
  • Construction Scope of Work
  • Review of drawings from other Disciplines.
  1. Planning and implementation of the Project to ensure that deliverables are issued on schedule, project
    milestone dates are met, and given tasks are completed within the allowed budget.
  2. Technical and administrative management of the telecommunication engineers / designers / draftsmen team, and assignment and co-ordination of activities within the team. to execute the design / procurement related activities of assigned projects
  3. Ensuring that the design is carried out as per the industry standard practices and in conformance with
    the quality management system of Technip Energies ADOC
  4. Document Control: This entails the development / update of the Document Register with accurate progress information on a regular basis. Co-ordination with Project and client, subcontractors and/or suppliers
  5. Providing technical support to site engineers on technical query issues
  6. Coordination with client engineers on Telecommunication engineering issues
  7. Providing support in the Telecommunication area for procurement activities
  8. Assisting in the preparation of project proposals and pre-qualification documents in what relates to
    Telecommunication engineering design.
  9. Identification of issues that impede project progress and reporting to Lead Engineer / Discipline Heads.
  10. Contributing towards, maintaining and implementing both company and client HSE Management
    System objectives and procedures,
  11. Providing site engineering support, as well as other inter-disciplinary support, should the requirement arise (e.g. Inspection or Procurement technical support).
  12. Assimilating the evolution of new products and technology and updating oneself on the latest
    international standards in terms of engineering design practices and their applications.
  13. Identifying new methodology of work process required for higher productivity.
  14. Complying with the applicable company procedures for the Engineering Department and the
    Instrumentation, Control System and Telecom Discipline. 

Operational Duties

As Sr. Telecommunication Engineer, when assigned on projects, is responsible for managing the team of engineers and designers and delivering the engineering requirements of the project as listed in the responsibilities section above. In general, the Sr. Telecommunication Engineer on a project is responsible for delivering:

  • Telecommunication System Design Basis
  • Recommended Telecommunication concept scenario option.
  • Telecommunication Close-out Reports
  • FEED and Detailed Design Telecommunication Architecture Diagrams
