Indie is hiring a (Senior) Test Engineer to develop and automate test systems for semiconductors and sensing tech in automotive markets, based in Munich with 2 to 3 onsite days per week. This proactive, ownership oriented role shapes test strategy from concept to production, driving KPI tracking and process improvements to boost product quality. We welcome junior or recent graduates as well as experienced candidates and require a bachelor’s or master’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Python, basic lab measurements, data analysis, and fluent German with good English. As a Test Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, industrializing, and continuously improving test systems across our product platforms. This is not a support role—it is designed for proactive engineers who take ownership, lead technical solutions, and help drive test strategy from concept through production.
You will directly influence test capability and product quality across the full lifecycle while contributing to both current programs and future product generations.
Support the development, optimization, and automation of test systems for new and existing products
Develop and maintain Python scripts and basic automation tools
Contribute to defining test concepts, coverage targets, and validation methods
Improve existing test setups through redesign, simplification, and failure-reduction initiatives
Document test environments and ensure long-term maintainability
Analyze test processes and equipment to identify improvement opportunities
Help introduce scalable workflows for new product releases
Contribute to KPI tracking (yield, test time, uptime, quality metrics)
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Hardware, Firmware, Production, and Quality teams
Participate in technical discussions during early development phases
Support knowledge sharing through strong documentation and teamwork
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Test Engineering, or similar
Open to junior/recent graduates and experienced candidates with test systems or hardware validation experience
Hands-on Python programming skills (required)
Basic knowledge of electrical measurements, lab equipment, and test automation
Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Python libraries, SQL, Jupyter)
Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented working style
Proactive mindset with willingness to take ownership
Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and drive tasks forward
Solid documentation habits and results-driven approach
German: fluent; English: good working proficiency
Willingness to work onsite in our Munich area office 2–3 days per week
Experience with production test setups or automation/fixture development
Knowledge of LabVIEW, C/C++, embedded interfaces, CAN, UART, or RF testing
Understanding of qualification standards, reliability testing, or automotive (AEC-Q) processes
Experience with CI/CD or DevOps-based test automation
