The I&A decision-making team at AFCA, led by Lead Ombudsman, Shail Singh, plays a pivotal role in resolving complex complaints and working closely with regulatory, industry and consumer stakeholders to address key issues affecting the investment and advice sector.
We are seeking an experienced Sessional Ombudsman to join our dynamic, highly collaborative team. This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise on a flexible, per‑engagement basis, supporting fair and timely dispute resolution. As part of our pool of skilled dispute‑resolution professionals, you’ll have access to AFCA’s resources, specialist teams, and ongoing support.
Engagements vary based on your availability, ranging from one day a week for several months, to a few days per month, or longer-term arrangements. It’s flexibility with purpose and allows you to pursue other interests or responsibilities.
This role is ideally suited to a senior, legally qualified professional with deep I&A sector experience and a proven record of achievement. Our team is at the forefront of complaint resolution, engaging with industry and consumer groups to tackle key issues affecting I&A customers. This broad area includes complaints against financial planners, stockbrokers, managed funds, timeshares, traditional trustees, cryptocurrency wallet providers, and even horse-racing syndicates! While expertise in all these areas isn't necessary, knowledge in at least one is required, and multiple areas are highly desirable.
