The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Shift Fitter in our Springhill Maintenance Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

You will join a cross-functional team that provides effective and timely support to the Springhill Works business units and ensures equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability. In this critical role, you will be the first point of call for maintenance issues and concerns and will assist with all operations inspections of equipment while using your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes, whilst ensuring your safety and that of your colleagues are a priority.

This is a shift position working on a 4:4 12-hour 24 x 7 rotating roster, consisting of rotating night and days shifts, Monday through to Sunday. 

What Will You Do?

You will apply your technical expertise to ensure that all mechanical equipment is maintained, as well as assisting with the surrounding Springhill department requirements. You will:

  • isolate equipment and perform maintenance and repairs   
  • inspect quality critical equipment and fault find
  • resolve issues and fix any non-conformances 
  • seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance strategies 
  • use of computerised maintenance management systems.

More About You

You will have a strong technical background with the ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team environment. You will also have:

  • mechanical trade qualifications
  • experience within a maintenance function
  • experience working both independently and as part of a manufacturing team 
  • strong attention to detail with the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently 
  • a commitment to your own safety and wellbeing and care for others
