About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Social Worker to join the Alfred Health Care Group Social Work Department in the role of Clinical Educator.
This newly established position is dedicated to strengthening the educational capability of the Social Work workforce through the leadership, development and delivery of structured, evidence-based teaching and training initiatives across all career stages. The Clinical Educator will play a central role in designing, facilitating and evaluating contemporary learning programs that support clinical skill development, reflective practice, bedside coaching, capability and professional growth.  Staff support and mentoring will be a key element of this role. 
Working collaboratively with the Allied Health Education team and Social Work leadership group, this role will ensure that education and training strategies are responsive to workforce needs, informed by ongoing consultation, and embedded into everyday clinical practice to support sustainable learning outcomes.
The position will actively contribute to building teaching and staff development capability within the Social Work workforce through involvement in interdisciplinary education programs, delivered in partnership with Grade 4 Social Work leads at Alfred Health and Allied health Education team.  In addition, the Clinical Educator will support the development, implementation and evaluation of a structured education framework aimed at strengthening staff capability, while contributing to the establishment of clear career focused pathways for Social Work staff.  This role will require the successful candidate to work across all Alfred care group campuses including Sandringham, Caulfield and The Alfred Hospital. 

About you  

  • Approved degree in Social Work and evidence of eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Advanced social work skills and experience in clinical leadership, education and teaching and project implementation and management
  • A knowledge of adult learning principles and bedside coaching 
  • Staff mentorship and coaching capabilities within a healthcare environment is essential  
  • Will need a current Working with Children’s check to undertake this role.
  • Post graduate qualifications in Social Work or a related field.
