Google is hiring a Software Engineer II, Full Stack for the YouTube Shopping Search team in Zurich, onsite. You will design and ship features that help shoppers find, explore, and buy products on YouTube, across back-end languages like Java, Python, Go or C++, and front-end tech such as JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML and CSS, while collaborating with PMs and UXers. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, at least one year of software development, and solid data structures and algorithms plus full stack experience. Preferred qualifications include experience building search quality improvements, a background in search or related areas such as LLMs, strong ownership and cross-team collaboration, and a love of prototyping and rapid iteration. The YouTube Shopping Viewer team in Zurich owns the user-facing shopping experiences on YouTube and the systems that power it. We design, build, and launch new features on YouTube's mobile apps, web app, and TV. We do this in close collaboration with our PMs, UXers, and partner teams.
One area of focus for the team is to help shoppers find, explore, and buy products on YouTube Search. We partner with the main search team to drive innovations in query understanding, indexing, retrieval, ranking, and user experiences to improve search for shopping.
