Software Engineer II, YouTube Safety at Google in Zürich is a full-time onsite role building machine learning classifiers to protect YouTube videos and images using modalities such as video, image, audio, transcripts and metadata. The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, at least one year of software development experience in Python, Java, C++ or JavaScript, and one year of core ML experience, with strengths in data structures and algorithms and ML, computer vision and data analysis preferred. You’ll collaborate with Research, Operations and Product teams and may switch teams as you grow. Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 1 year of experience implementing core ML concepts.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with Machine Learning (ML), Computer Vision and data analysis (head room analysis/opportunity sizing).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand gaps in our content understanding.
  • Build classifiers for YouTube videos, live streams, and images using various modalities (e.g., video, image, audio, audio transcripts, metadata).
  • Apply novel machine learning methods to manage a variety of Trust and Safety challenges.
  • Collaborate with Research, Operations, and Product teams.
