NMC Healthcare in Abu Dhabi is recruiting a Specialist in General Surgery to join full-time, on-site, leading the orthopedic department’s surgical services from diagnosis through post-operative care, with a focus on complex case consultation and continuous professional development. The role enforces DOH and JCI standards, reports to the Head of Department, and requires independent execution of technical duties, ongoing patient care monitoring, accurate medical records, and active participation in governance and infection control. Qualifications include 3-5 years post-qualification at Specialist level, plus 1 year Specialist experience from a Tier 1 country, a basic medical degree with a recognized specialty qualification, active life support certifications, and UAE registration eligibility. Responsible for the orthopedic Department which provide surgical care, including diagnosis, pre-operative care, all major and minor operative procedures in the field of orthopedic surgery and post-surgery care.
A major portion of the incumbent's work will be the professional care of assigned patients and providing consultation on complex cases.
Participates in the professional aspects of the Department to ensure that established standards of DOH & JCI are met.
Incumbent is under the general direction of the HOD. He reports to and receives guidance from him. Works independently on technical and professional assignments keeping the HOD informed of problems encountered and action taken.
Ensure the established medical, ethical and legal procedures are followed.
Monitors the care of all patients receiving surgical treatment provided by the orthopedic Department to assure standards are met.
Keeps informed as to current developments in the field of orthopedic surgery and keeps the surgical staff up-to-date on surgical process through Department discussions, lectures and in-service training.
Assists in the development of improved methods and job simplification, by participating in special studies concerning development or revision of existing procedures, policies and practices.
Participates on committees as assigned.
Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the HOD.
Provide a comprehensive professional and ethical quality clinical services to patients in an effective and efficient manner.
Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.
Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Ensure excellence in medical practice is maintained by focusing on continuous professional development of self and others.
Maintain integrity in professional services by executing clinical services in an ethical and responsible manner

At least 3 - 5 years’ post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)
At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant UAE healthcare authority. Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
