Alfred Health's Bayside Health is recruiting a full-time Specialist in Anatomical Pathology to join the Anatomical Pathology Unit across The Alfred and Footscray Hospital, covering Histopathology, Cytopathology and solid tumour molecular pathology. The successful candidate will be a legally qualified medical practitioner registered with AHPRA without conditions, a Fellow of the relevant college, and able to demonstrate strong Anatomical Pathology experience with Bayside Health credentialing. Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills, plus the ability to collaborate across teams, are essential; neuromuscular and molecular pathology expertise is desirable. About the Department

The main laboratory of the Anatomical Pathology Unit is located at The Alfred campus with a significant anatomical pathology laboratory located at the new Footscray Hospital. The Unit comprises 6 diagnostic sections; Histopathology, Cytopathology, Special Histopathology (In situ Hybridisation, Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry & Autoantibody Serology), Neuromuscular laboratory, Mortuary and solid tumour molecular pathology. A broad range of diagnostic histology and non-gynaecological cytology specimens are processed by the Unit and incorporate the work of Alfred and Western Health.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:

• Appointees must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings or reprimands that could impact on their clinical practice
• Fellow of the relevant college
• Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Anatomical Pathology
• Meeting Bayside Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Anatomical Pathology
• Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills
• Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels
• Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others/ other teams
• Expertise in neuropathology and/or solid tumour molecular pathology is desirable
