A nephrologist role at NMC Dubai seeks a Specialist Nephrologist to diagnose and manage kidney diseases, provide on call coverage for nephrology emergencies and dialysis, supervise dialysis staff, and contribute to education and quality improvement while upholding DHA and JCI norms. Requirements: graduation from an approved medical school with internship and residency, board certification by the American Board of Neurology or Royal College of Neurology (or equivalent), five years of nephrology practice with two years as a licensed specialist, DHA license to practice in Dubai, excellent English, leadership and confidentiality, and familiarity with hospital policies. To provide specialized services to patients for the diagnosis and management of diseases of the Kidney.

  1. To perform the professional duties of a Specialist Nephrologists in accordance with the delineation of privileges as approved by the Credentials Committee.

    1. Provides after working hours on-call emergency coverage for nephrology emergencies and hemodialysis unit.

    2. Provides supervision and education to the dialysis Staffs : Nurses and Technicians

    3. Participates and contributes to the educational activities in the service.

    4. Participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (e.g. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review).

    5. Supports Continuous Quality Improvement. Develops and promotes appropriate standards of care.

    6. Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, with associates and with Management.

    7. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of a confidential nature.

    8. Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.

    9. Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.

    10. Performs other duties as assigned by Head of the Department.

    11. To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.

     

     

  1. Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency; certification by the American Board of Neurology or Member of the Royal College of Neurology (or its equivalent).

    1. At least five (5) years of practice as a nephrologist with two (2) or more years as a licensed specialist.

    2. Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.

    3. Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.

    4. Current licensure in country of origin and with DHA license to practice as a Specialist in the field of Nephrology in Dubai, UAE.

    5. Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
