Job Description

Short Description for Internal Candidates

To provide specialized services to patient for the diagnosis and management of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. Coordinates and monitors the neurologic care he/she provides to promote efficient and effective delivery of quality health care both in the OPD and in the IP sector.

Responsibilities for Internal Candidates

1. To perform the professional duties of a Neurologist in accordance with the delineation of privileges as approved by the Credential Committee both in the OPD and IP.

   1. To oversee the operation of the Neuro-diagnostic Laboratory (EEG, EMG) including the on-going training of the technicians if and when needed.

   2. Provides on-call emergency coverage for Neurologic emergencies.

   3. Participates in the monthly educational conferences.

   4. Supports Continuous Quality Improvement. Develops and promotes appropriate standards of care.

   5. Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, with associates and with Management.

   6. Evidences leadership skills in developing in others the willingness and desire to work toward common objectives.

   7. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of a confidential nature.

   8. Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.

   9. Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.

   10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Medical Director.

Qualifications

Qualifications for Internal Candidates

1. Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency;  - MBBS/MD/DM or DNB - Neurology
2. At least three (3) years of practice as a Neurologist with two (2) or more years as a licensed specialist.
3. Excellent command of oral and written English and Malayalam. 
4. Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
5. Current licensure in country of origin and with DHA license to practice Neurology as a specialist in Dubai, UAE.
6. Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients and families.
