An Abu Dhabi based full-time Ophthalmology Specialist role at NMC Healthcare seeks a clinician who ensures ophthalmic care meets DoH standards, monitors quality, and participates in review of difficult cases while keeping abreast of current developments. The successful candidate will be available for after hours consultation, coordinate with the HOD to plan programs that integrate curative and preventive total patient care, contribute to teaching for nursing and ancillary staff, participate in committees, and uphold infection control and patient safety policies. Requirements include 3-5 years post qualification specialist experience (plus 1 year in a Tier 1 country), a basic medical degree with UAE recognised fellowship or diploma, active life support certifications, and UAE registration eligibility (eg Royal College/Arab Board/MS/DM/MPhil or equivalent). Ensures that Ophthalmological care rendered meets DoH standards.
Monitors within established guidelines the quality of care provided. Participates in review/study of
difficult and special cases.
Monitors the eye care rendered on a daily basis to ensure that DoH Standards are met.
Keeps informed as to current developments in the field of ophthalmology.
Available for consultation after working hours
Coordinates with the HOD in planning programs integrating the curative and preventive aspects of
total patient care
Participates in the implementation of approved curative/preventive programs as
they relate to Ophthalmology.Takes an active role in teaching activities provided for nursing & ancillary staff.
Participates in committees as requested by the Medical Director.
Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to
infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested by the HOD.
Participates in quality related activities programs as requested by the Medical Director.
Orients new staff when requested to do so.
Communicates regularly with HOD and other members of the service.

At least 3 - 5 years’ post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)
At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant UAE healthcare authority. Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
