To serve as the analytical and operational backbone of UGR’s Vessel Performance function within the Operational Excellence & Digital Transformation Directorate, delivering data-driven intelligence that drives fuel efficiency, regulatory compliance and decarbonization performance across UGR’s chartered fleet.
The role is responsible for collecting, validating and analysing large-scale vessel performance and emissions datasets; building and maintaining AI-enabled monitoring platforms and dashboards; developing vessel-specific and fleet-wide decarbonisation roadmaps; and conducting cost-benefit analyses on alternative fuels and emission reduction technologies.
Operating at the intersection of maritime operations, sustainability regulation, and digital transformation, the Specialist ensures UGR’s full compliance with EU ETS, IMO DCS, CII, and FuelEU Maritime frameworks while feeding accurate, validated data into the Directorate’s Single Source of Truth architecture and AI agent workflows.
The role directly supports UGR’s strategic positioning as a data-led maritime logistics organizer, contributing to the Directorate’s mandate of making vessel performance management proactive, staff-independent, and scalable.
 

•    Analyze vessel performance data and prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports
•    Identify operational optimization areas and report findings to management
•    Ensure accuracy of Noon Reports and sensor data, and support seamless data flow to AI systems
•    Monitor compliance with EU and IMO regulations and develop improvement actions
•    Conduct industry analysis on alternative fuels and new technologies in line with decarbonization targets
•    Collaborate with IT and Systems teams on digitalization initiatives
•    Monitor and report KPIs such as fuel consumption deviations and regulatory compliance
 

Educational and Technical Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering

Language Skills:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

Years of Experience:

  • At least 3rd Engineer experience on board vessels (Ro-Ro experience preferred)

Nature of Experience:

  • Strong technical knowledge of marine engines, fuel systems, and operational limits

  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) with strong data analysis and reporting skills

  • Basic knowledge of maritime regulations

  • Strong team player with effective collaboration and coordination skills
