ABOUT THE ROLE
At CannonDesign we believe in leveraging data-driven solutions throughout our projects to improve outcomes. Our integrated BIM environment enables this process. The digital technology manager is responsible for ensuring the digital health and delivery of the project or program. While this role requires technology expertise, the driving need of this role is to provide a strategic understanding of how technology (both new and existing) can be best leveraged on large complex projects. This involves being part of the project from the RFP phases (recognizing any digital requirements or opportunities to advance technology), to being part of the capture and contract phase (to recognize any onerous digital requirements or capitalize on technology capabilities) through the digital planning of the design, execution and delivery phase of the project or program.
Your initial assignment will be on a 2.0+ million square foot healthcare facility at Mayo Clinic’s campus.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Partner with project leadership, clients, and consultants to define and lead project-specific digital strategies encompassing BIM, VDC, data management, and technology integration from pursuit through delivery.
- Lead the development and review of contractual and digital deliverables, including BIM Execution Plans; escalate contractual or scope conflicts to Design Technology and Legal teams as needed.
- Identify and own project digital requirements, including BIM strategies, data exchange protocols, advanced model delivery, and digitally enabled workflows.
- Establish and oversee model management frameworks for large or complex programs, including audits, performance metrics, optimization strategies, and consistency across multiple teams or packages.
- Lead and facilitate digital coordination and client and consultant meetings (e.g., BIM/GIS coordination, clash detection, digitally enabled design reviews).
- Oversee software lifecycle compatibility, file version management, and data exchange strategies to ensure interoperability and efficiency within project team and consultants.
- Lead onboarding for CannonDesign and consultant team members, ensuring consistent understanding of digital strategy, workflows, collaboration platforms, and firm standards.
- Partner with the Design Technology team to define and implement best practices, standard workflows, and scalable processes for large programs.
- Mentor project teams in the implementation of firm tools, workflows, and emerging digital practices.
- Identify gaps in firm tools, capabilities, or processes and propose enhancements or new technologies to improve project outcomes and advance firm expertise.
- Lead the evaluation, piloting, and integration of new digital tools and workflows on projects; collaborate with Design Technology to scale successful solutions across teams and offices.
- Manage member access, permissions, and project-specific licenses for digital environments; ensure compliance and coordinate with IT and Design Technology on access strategies
- Support digital collaboration across multi-office teams and external partners to maintain model health and delivery quality.
- Travel as required.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor or Master degree in Architecture, Engineering, Design Technology, or related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working in the digital realm of the A/E/C industry with a solid understanding of project phases from design through construction/close out required.
- Prior experience in BIM management, VDC coordination etc. for large programs or projects is preferred.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills,
- Must have experience training others in the design, delivery, and use of BIM.
- Strong leadership skills and client engagement capabilities.
- Must be knowledgeable in design software and comfortable with new technology testing and adoption.
- Strong technical knowledge of model authoring tools like Revit, analysis tools like, Insight 360, Dynamo, and review tools like Navisworks, Bluebeam, Revizto, Enscape and other Design Applications.
- Knowledge of the Revit API is preferred but not required.
- Professional business attire is required for all client meetings. Examples of professional business attire include suits, ties, collared dress shirts, dresses, and skirts.
The salary range for this position is $106,300 to $132,900 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage and flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances.
