Role Overview
The Transportation Finance Analyst is responsible for owning the financial accuracy, analysis, and optimization of all transportation and freight spend across the business. This role sits at the intersection of logistics execution and financial analysis and is accountable for ensuring freight costs are accurate, understood, and continuously improved.
Reporting directly to the COO and supporting our Moe’s, Sundays and Hetta brands, this is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong financial and analytical skills, paired with a working understanding of transportation operations across parcel, LTL, FTL, and cross-border freight.
Key Responsibilities
Freight Invoice Review & Audit
- Ensure all carrier charges align with contracted rates, accessorials, and shipment details
- Identify billing errors, duplicates, and discrepancies; manage disputes with carriers and partners
- Partner with Finance to support accrual accuracy and month-end close
Transportation Spend Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze transportation spend by mode, carrier, lane, customer, SKU, and accessorial
- Identify cost drivers, trends, and variances in freight spend
- Develop recurring dashboards and reporting for Operations and Finance leadership
- Provide clear explanations of cost movements and performance changes
Cost Optimization & Network Support
- Identify and quantify opportunities for transportation cost reduction without degrading service
- Support mode optimization, carrier mix decisions, and accessorial reduction initiatives
- Provide financial analysis to support network changes, 3PL transitions, and carrier negotiations
- Partner with Logistics on carrier rate negotiations based on financial analysis and benchmarks
- Track savings initiatives and ensure benefits are realized and sustained
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner closely with Logistics to influence routing, booking, and execution decisions
- Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support onboarding and oversight of 3PLs and transportation partners
- Serve as a trusted analytical partner to Operations leadership
Qualifications
Required:
- 4–7 years of experience in financial analysis, logistics analytics, transportation finance, or a related field
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills; ability to work with large, imperfect datasets
- Experience reviewing invoices or cost data with high attention to detail
- Ability to translate operational activity into financial insight
Preferred:
- Exposure to parcel, LTL, FTL, and cross-border transportation, with furniture-specific experience a strong asset
- Familiarity with freight accessorials, dimensional pricing, and rate structures
- Experience working with TMS, freight audit tools, or carrier portals
- SQL, BI tools, or advanced analytics experience an asset
- Experience in AI-driven analysis and tools

The pay range for thsi role is $70,000 - $120,000 per year based on experience.
