Synechron Sydney is seeking a Data Engineering Lead with strong expertise in data streaming, AWS EMR, and PySpark to support large-scale data migration and transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable data pipelines, migrating workloads to cloud platforms, and enabling advanced analytics for enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering & Pipeline Development

    • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines using PySpark and AWS EMR.

    • Implement real-time data streaming solutions with tools such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Spark Streaming.

    • Develop ETL/ELT workflows for structured and unstructured data.

  • Cloud Migration

    • Lead and support data migration projects from on-premise to AWS cloud.

    • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance during migration.

  • Platform Engineering

    • Deploy and manage big data workloads on AWS EMR, S3, Redshift, DynamoDB, and Glue.

  • Collaboration

    • Work closely with architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering with strong migration project exposure.

  • Hands-on expertise in PySpark, AWS EMR, and big data frameworks.

  • Experience with data streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Spark Streaming).

  • Strong knowledge of AWS services (S3, Glue, Redshift, DynamoDB, Lambda).

  • Proficiency in SQL/NoSQL databases and data modeling.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes for data workloads.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS certification (Data Analytics Specialty, Solutions Architect).

  • Experience in BFSI or enterprise-scale migration projects.

  • Exposure to event-driven architectures and real-time analytics.

  • Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and compliance frameworks.
