We are seeking a professional like you to lead strategic customer relationships within the Paper & Carpet segment serving the Paper Coatings Industry. In this role, you will serve as the primary commercial owner for assigned accounts, developing long-term business partnerships, driving profitable growth, identifying new opportunities, and ensuring exceptional customer experiences.

 

As the Strategic Account Manager, you will translate business strategies into customer-specific growth plans, coordinate cross-functional execution, and serve as the primary interface between BASF and the customer organization. You will collaborate closely with Marketing, Technical Service, Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Service, and Business Management teams to deliver sustainable value and strengthen BASF’s position with strategic customers.

  • Own strategic customer relationships and account plans for assigned Paper Coatings accounts, including relationship mapping, opportunity pipeline management, and execution priorities aligned with business strategy. 
  • Develop long-term business partnerships with key customer stakeholders to promote BASF’s Dispersions & Resins portfolio, increase share of wallet, improve customer experience, and deliver profitable volume growth. 
  • Understand market trends and customer needs in Paper Coatings applications, then translate insights into differentiated BASF solutions, innovation opportunities, and growth initiatives. 
  • Lead customer communication, pricing negotiations, contract discussions, deal-closing, and follow-up activities to achieve sales, margin, volume, and profitability targets. 
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution with Marketing, Technical Service, R&D, Product Management, Supply Chain, Customer Care, Logistics, and Business Management to meet customer needs and ensure account plans are delivered. 
  • Manage customer forecasts, demand validation, Salesforce/SAP/CPQ data quality, and account performance tracking to support forecast accuracy, operational planning, and disciplined commercial execution. 
  • Gather market intelligence, competitor insights, service feedback, and customer pain points, and represent the voice of the customer to internal stakeholders to drive action and continuous improvement.

If you have...

 

  • Relevant experience in strategic account management, sales, business development, or another customer-facing commercial function.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated ability to drive profitable growth, manage account financials, execute pricing strategies, and deliver volume, sales, and margin objectives.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and communicate effectively across multiple customer and internal stakeholder levels.
  • Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project-management skills, with the ability to operate in complex and dynamic environments.
  • Self-starter with strong ownership, disciplined follow-up, customer focus, and the ability to work effectively across cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
  • Experience in Paper Coatings applications.
  • Proficiency with BASF tools and systems such as Salesforce, SAP, CPQ, Copilot, and related digital tools preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
