Streetworks Administrator
Network PlusNetwork Plus is seeking a focused Streetworks Administrator to support Cadent in a full-time, onsite role based in Manchester, England. This position reports to the Streetworks & Planning Manager and acts as the main contact for the operational team during works on site. If you like keeping complex schedules tidy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating between teams and authorities, you could be a great fit.
In this job you’ll work within Cadent’s framework to make sure streetworks activities run to plan and meet NRSWA requirements, while keeping timescales tight and protecting project finances. The role centers on managing the day-to-day process and making sure all moving parts stay aligned with the contract’s goals.
As the hands-on coordinator on site, you’ll liaise with local authorities and client representatives, monitor notifications, and keep communication open with the client and the operational team. You’ll also handle data and reporting routines that keep everyone informed and accountable throughout the works.
On-site streetworks in action
Day-to-day, you’ll keep a steady rhythm to ensure activities stay compliant and on track, watching for any deviations from the plan and stepping in to address them. You’ll help ensure that the works progress within statutory bounds and that the on-site teams have what they need to move forward.
Part of the routine is working with the council’s computerised systems, known as SWM, to review and coordinate data and respond when necessary to keep information accurate and current. When issues arise, you’ll escalate them as appropriate and maintain open channels with local authorities and client representatives to resolve them quickly.
You’ll be responsible for opening, coordinating and closing streetworks notifications, and you’ll run daily reports to track progress and highlight any outstanding items. The role calls for setting priorities and managing workload with initiative, often without direct supervision, while handling ad hoc activities to support the contract.
Another key element is owning highways-related queries and ensuring clear communication lines with the client and the operational team so everyone stays aligned and informed throughout the project.
Your essential toolkit
To be a strong match, you’ll need a core set of capabilities and experiences that support reliable performance in this role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational approach with a focus on meeting deadlines
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to stay calm and communicate clearly under pressure
- Self-motivation and the ability to work with limited supervision
Desirable but not essential are two areas that would help you hit the ground running: prior experience in the utilities sector and streetworks exposure with familiarity of statutory requirements.
Compensation and the practical details
The role offers a salary of £26,500 per year, paired with a full benefits package. It is a full-time, onsite position located in Manchester and operates within Cadent’s streetworks operations. Network Plus presents itself as an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity in its hiring. They are also friendly toward applicants with Armed Forces backgrounds.
Privacy and data protection are taken seriously by the employer, and applying to this role implies agreement with the company’s privacy policy.
Advice for applicants to this role
Highlight any experience you have with streetworks or utilities in your resume, even if it wasn’t your main job duty, and show how you supported compliance and notification processes on site.
When you describe your must-have skills, focus on concrete examples of clear written and spoken communication, your track record of staying organized to meet deadlines, and your ability to work under pressure while keeping stakeholders informed.
Prepare to discuss how you’ve used data in SWM or similar systems to coordinate activities, manage notifications, and drive timely decisions on projects like this one. Concrete numbers or outcomes, such as reduced delays or improved reporting speed, will help your case.
As you get ready for interviews, think of a few questions that connect to this role’s day-to-day realities, for example how the team uses SWM data to prioritize work or how the Streetworks & Planning Manager collaborates with the administrator to resolve highways queries.
