UGL Regional Linx (UGLRL) operates and maintains the NSW Country Regional Network (CRN), ensuring the safe and reliable movement of passengers and freight across regional New South Wales.
We are currently seeking a Structures Examiner to join our Structures Team. This role can be based in Bathurst, Orange, or West Wyalong, NSW and operates on a fortnightly 8 days on, 6 days off roster.

Your Role as a Structures Examiner

As a Structures Examiner, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and integrity of infrastructure across the NSW Country Regional Network (CRN). You will conduct inspections and assessments of a diverse range of structural assets, including rail underbridges, road overbridges, footbridges, culverts, signal gantries, tunnels, retaining walls, platforms, lighting towers, and other associated structures. Your findings will support asset management decisions, helping to determine serviceability and inform future maintenance, repair, and renewal programs.
 

Key Responsibilities

•    Conduct scheduled inspections and examinations of structures across the CRN.
•    Assess asset condition and identify structural defects and deterioration.
•    Determine the seriousness of defects and escalate critical issues where required.
•    Apply relevant defect standards and examination procedures.
•    Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain asset records.
•    Update and maintain the integrity of the Asset Database.
•    Assist with planning and prioritisation of examination activities.
•    Provide technical advice regarding structure condition, repairs, and renewals.
•    Use specialist examination equipment safely and effectively.
•    Work in accordance with all safety, environmental, and operational requirements.

Your Experience

Essential
•    Experience in structures examination, bridge inspection, asset inspection, or a related rail, civil, or structural environment
•    Ability to identify and assess structural defects
•    Understanding of asset condition assessment and reporting
•    Current RIW Card
•    White Card
•    Current Class C Driver's Licence
•    Ability to travel and work away from home during rostered shifts
 

Highly Regarded

•    National competencies relevant to Structures Examination
•    Bridge Examiner qualifications
•    Protection Officer competency
•    Track Vehicle Operator (Hi-Rail) competency
•    Experience working within rail infrastructure environments
•    HR or HC Driver's Licence
