Primary Duties

UC HR is searching for a Student Associate to provide support for the University’s job architecture initiative. This role assists in reviewing, updating, and standardizing job descriptions to ensure alignment with established career bands, levels, and the broader compensation framework. Working closely with the UCHR Compensation team, this role will help analyze job data, support classification efforts, and contribute to maintaining consistency, pay parity, and clarity across job documentation. This position offers hands-on experience in compensation practices, job evaluation, and HR operations within a complex organizational environment.

 

  • Review, edit, and update job descriptions to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity across the university.
  • Align job descriptions with established job architecture standards, including career bands, levels, and job families.
  • Standardize language and formatting to support enterprise-wide consistency.
  • Analyze job-related data (e.g., titles, duties, qualifications) to identify inconsistencies or gaps.
  • Support audits of job descriptions to ensure compliance with compensation and classification frameworks.
  • Assist in preparing reports and summaries on job architecture progress, trends, and findings.
  • Assist in evaluating and mapping roles to appropriate career bands and levels based on scope, complexity, and responsibilities.
  • Ensure required elements (e.g., essential functions, minimum qualifications, competencies) are clearly defined and compliant.
  • Maintain organized records of job description versions and updates.
  • Assist in developing job architecture tools, templates, and guidance documents.
  • Support ongoing job architecture project initiatives and timelines.
  • Track progress of job description updates and maintain project trackers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support compensation and HR operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year commitment
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school.
  • Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), except for summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term.
  • “Enrollment” shall include:
    • The period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled.
    • The one “off” term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled. Student employee status may be retained for one additional term following either graduation or withdrawal from enrollment.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Students enrolled in A&S Organizational Leadership, Lindner College of Business Management, or HR Programs preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
