Valiant Integrated Services has an exciting opportunity for a Submarine Tactical Oceanography (TACO) Senior Analyst supporting the Undersea Warfighting Development Center (UWDC) in Groton, CT. UWDC, under the direction of Commander, Submarine Forces (COMSUBFOR), leads undersea superiority and enables the combat lethality and desired effects generated from, and within, the Undersea Domain. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and advice to the Commander of Submarine Forces and UWDC in all matters related to the tactical use of the ocean environment.
  • Recommend improvements in submarine sensing, operator and crew readiness training, tactics evolution, and data collection.
  • Liaise between warfighting and technical communities.
  • Travel approximately 5-10 occasions per year to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree, advanced degree preferred, in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

 

CLEARANCE:  Active TS/SCI

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expert knowledge of submarine operations, training, tactics, systems, tactical aids (TACAIDS), and current/future mission sets.
  • Knowledge of UWDC and the Tactical Analysis Group (TAG) mission, functions, organization, operational relationships, and command responsibilities.
  • Ability to develop strategics, directives, instructions, and policies and develop plans and methodologies to ensure compliance. Studies, surveys, and analyses are of such breadth and scope to require Analyst to assemble project teams to facilitate execution. Projects, programs, and policies resulting from the analysis and studies typically involve new approaches and means of accomplishing tactical objectives.
  • Ability to lead change and shift culture towards proficient use of the environment for platform maneuver, sonar and weapons employment, and evasion.
  • Ability to perform a range of coordinating and supportive duties and responsibilities in support of periodic large meetings and engagements.
  • Ability to summarize findings for Navy Flag level audience and communicate warfighting relevance of activities.
  • Exceptional writing skills to develop executive-level correspondence and the Flag/Senior Executive Service (SES) level.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications suite. Able to prepare and submit written documents supporting analysis with recommendations for courses of action. Ability to review, analyze, and compile a variety of data to produce reports and briefings internally and external to the command.
  • Knowledge and ability to work independently and manage several projects simultaneously. Ability to communicate effectively with Navy Senior Leadership.
  • Knowledge of government security requirements for classified data, including proper marking and protection for classified data.
  • High skill and tact in oral and written communications, including preparing and briefing technical material to large and/or senior audiences. Ability to record notes and transcribe meeting minutes into action items.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a passport and driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.
