Powerco is offering Summer Internships in Distribution Design for New Plymouth or Tauranga, giving hands on experience in engineering, digital transformation and network design and showing how design decisions affect the electricity system. They want students studying Electrical or Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, GIS, Digital Engineering, Computer Science or Data Analytics who are detail oriented, comfortable with systems and software, and eager to learn in a supportive team. You will apply your studies to real world challenges and help create practical solutions with a path toward a future Grad programme. Applications close Friday 21 August 2026. Summer Intern – Distribution Design
📍 New Plymouth or Tauranga
We’re on the lookout for a variety of students who are keen to roll up their sleeves and get some hands-on experience in the electricity sector this summer.
These positions will be based in New Plymouth or Tauranga. We're particularly interested to hear from students with links to these locations.
You’ll support Powerco's Distribution Design team across a range of engineering, digital transformation, and network design activities. It’s a great chance to learn how design decisions support the wider electricity system and see how your studies apply in the real world.
About you
- Studying Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, GIS or Digital Engineering Computer Science / Data Analytics
- Have strong attention to detail and enjoy making sense of technical data
- Comfortable working with systems and software
- Bring a bit of initiative and are open to learning from a supportive team
