Tips for applicants
Lead with your care qualifications by placing the Certificate III/IV in Aged Care or an equivalent credential at the top of your resume, and highlight any roles where you supported older adults or lived with similar responsibilities.
Demonstrate the must-have skills with concrete examples, such as times you assisted with personal care, helped with meals and medications, or arranged transport to appointments and social events, and show how you stay adaptable to changing client needs while maintaining compassion.
For the interview, come prepared with stories about how you keep clients safe and preserve their dignity in their homes, how you manage multiple visits and driving responsibilities, and how you’ll handle privacy and confidentiality. Don’t forget to mention your driving licence status and whether you have access to a vehicle for client transport.
Ask a thoughtful question about the role’s logistics and checks, for instance: how scheduling is balanced across clients, what support exists to help you complete the mandatory National Police Check and Working with Children Check, and what opportunities there are for ongoing professional development within Uniting.
