NMC Healthcare invites a full‑time Surgical Hospitalist in Dubai to deliver evidence‑based medical care as a general practitioner in the wards and ICU, with on‑call and emergency coverage. The role includes daily ward assessments and documentation, preoperative orders, coordination of investigations and diets, medical-record accuracy and confidentiality, and ICU assessment with rapid treatment decisions. Requirements: medical degree with compulsory internship and at least three years GP experience, two to three years residency, and a DHA license to practice in Dubai; strong English essential, Arabic desirable; BLS and ACLS required, ATLS optional. Provides medical services to patients, through current best-evidence based standards, using best judgement at all times, and in accordance with the Hospital Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.Directs preventive care of patients according to approved procedures which are part of an integrated program of curative and preventive services under supervision of specialist. Serves as a general practitioner in the Wards and ICU, monitoring and treats patients for diseases and disabilities.
To perform the professional duties of a General Practitioner in the Wards and ICU in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the credential committee.
WARD SERVICES
Assess all patients admitted in the wards on a daily basis and ensure appropriate documentation of assessment findings
Communicate relevant findings from the assessments with the admitting doctor
Enter pre-operative medication orders for patients admitted for surgery
Order medications / investigations / diets for the patients in the absence of the admitting consultant / specialist
Attend to patients clinical needs as and when required and answer to clinical queries asked by patients / attendants in discussion with the admitting consultant / specialist
Accompany inpatients from the wards/ICU who require to be transferred to other hospitals via ambulance
Completes all medical records and case histories promptly, indicating thereon the diagnosis and treatment given
Is responsible for the medical accuracy, completeness and confidential nature of patients’ medical records
Advises nursing personnel regarding medical problems; responds to radio telephone calls
Provides health counseling of patients as needed
Demonstrates commitment to continuing medical education
Participates in review and planning activities relevant to the development of the inpatient service and the hospital
Carries out other assigned duties within the appropriate scope of knowledge, skills and abilities of the position
ICU SERVICES
To conduct assessment & re-assessment for all patients in the ICU, on admission, and during patient stay in ICU
Determines which cases constitute a required urgent treatment and, extends rapid treatment to the patient as needed, facilitate quick decisions, and chooses the correct consultant for necessary additional guidance
Monitors and examines in-patients in ICU, rendering immediate judgment and treatment if contact the admitting doctor, if necessary
Completes all medical records and case histories promptly, indicating there on the diagnosis and treatment given. Is responsible for the medical accuracy, completeness and confidential nature of patients’ medical records
Attends professional and hospital meetings as directed by the HOD. Occasionally prepares cases for presentation at ward rounds and staff meetings
Provides on-call emergency coverage
Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of Department
Respond to emergency resuscitation when required for the patient
Graduation from an recognized Medical School and 1 year of Compulsory Internship, 2years residency training in a recognized residency training program.
3 years of experience as a General Practitioner.
Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
Current licensure in country of graduation and with DHA license to practice in Dubai, UAE.
Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
BLS, ACLS and ATLS (optional) certified.
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
