As a Surgical Technologist, you will play an important role in supporting safe, efficient surgical procedures and providing exceptional care to our patients. You’ll work closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other members of the healthcare team to help ensure every procedure runs smoothly.

What You'll Do

As a Surgical Technologist, you will:

  • Serve as an integral member of the surgical team during procedures.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and ancillary departments.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operating room environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and compassion when interacting with patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Follow established hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Education – Required:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program OR
  • Evidence of NYS Department of Health exemption based on one year of cumulative surgical technologist experience between January 1, 2011 and January 1, 2015 OR
  • Current NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

Education – Preferred:

  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist program.

Certifications – Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the RQI system during clinical orientation.
  • Surgical Technologist Certification for Surgical Technologist program graduates who do not qualify under the NYS Department of Health exemption.
  • Current NYS LPN license, when applicable.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification.

Experience

Required:

  • At least one year of healthcare experience, OR
  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program with evidence of application for Surgical Technologist certification.

Preferred:

  • Previous scrub/surgical technologist experience.
