YMCA Victoria is hiring a casual Swim Teacher in Charge at Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre to supervise the swimming lessons team, conduct preschool and school-age assessments, liaise with parents and teachers, manage student progression and OH&S compliance, monitor class occupancy, and coordinate bookings using Perfect Gym and common Microsoft tools. You’ll assist with parent inquiries and the setup and pack up of lessons, reporting to the Aquatic Coordinator. Essential qualifications are a Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety and First Aid CPR; desirable extras include infants and preschool aquatics and inclusive teaching. About the Centre
Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre is part of the Boroondara Leisure Facilities and is managed by YMCA Victoria. Running a variety of fitness programs to support your journey to a healthier lifestyle. The centre is home to five pools; an outdoor 25m Pool, Indoor 25m Pool, Hydrotherapy Pool, 2 spas, a toddler pool with a feature play slide and a sauna. Ashburton also has 2 basketball courts, a gym, creche and a café.
About the Role
As Teacher in Charge you would be shift supervisor for the swimming lessons staff and space during class times. Your primary duties revolve around assessments and liaising with swimming lessons staff and patrons, including;
This is a Casual role with an hourly rate of $40.42 + super.
About You
You will be passionate about inspiring and developing water safety and swimming skills in children and young people. Experience in other teaching or coaching roles is a bonus but not necessary. Personal attributes such as patience, respect, and enthusiasm will take you far as a Swim Teacher!
