The Department

Health Information Services provides a range of functions including Switchboard and Enquiries services, statutory reporting, Medical Record Management, Clinical Coding and clinical information requests.

The Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for handling telephone calls from external and internal customers, whilst ensuring that all calls are answered in a timely fashion. This position also includes updating changes to medical staff rosters and dealing with emergency calls promptly.

The successful applicant will be working autonomously, and thus must demonstrate excellent, clear, quick and effective decision and communication skills, particularly during emergency calls. The ability to prioritise tasks, promote and maintain good customer relations, professional behaviour and team spirit is required.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Higher School Certificate/Victorian Certificate of Education
  • Previous clerical and switchboard experience, preferably in a hospital environment
  • Highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
