Job Description

He aha te tūranga - About the role: 

We're seeking a Systems Officer to join our Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) team in Auckland or Christchurch. Working Monday to Friday as part of a close-knit team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the technology that supports emergency call taking and dispatch remains reliable, effective and fit for purpose. 

This is an opportunity to combine your technical expertise, problem-solving skills and passion for continuous improvement in an environment where your work has a direct impact on our communities. 

You'll be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the IOC's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and related technologies. 

Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Monitoring, triaging and resolving system support tickets, escalating issues where required. 

  • Assisting with planned system upgrades, maintenance activities and unplanned outages.  

  • Conducting end-to-end User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements and changes.  

  • Developing UAT plans, test scripts and supporting documentation.  

  • Coordinating the implementation of system improvements.  

  • Building strong relationships with operational teams, vendors and key stakeholders. 

Qualifications

Ko wai koe - About you:  

You may come from an emergency operations background (e.g. call handling or dispatch using CAD), or bring equivalent experience in systems administration or technical support, ideally with 2–3 years in a similar environment. 

You’re an adaptable problem solver who enjoys working with technology and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. You can communicate complex information clearly and remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment. 

You'll also bring: 

  • Strong computer literacy and confidence working across a range of technology platforms.  

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues remotely.  

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.  

  • A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality outcomes.
