Job Description

The role you’ll play
Temporary employees play an essential role in keeping our operations moving across New Zealand.

We are looking for a highly organised and commercially minded person to oversee the day-to-day management of our temporary employment agency partnerships.

This is not an end-to-end recruitment role. Your focus will be on agency performance, stakeholder relationships, financial processes, reporting and ensuring our temporary workforce model operates efficiently and consistently. You will work closely with recruitment agencies, hiring managers, Finance, Procurement and the wider People and Culture team.

As our subject matter expert, you will use data, market insights and commercial thinking to identify opportunities, manage costs and continually improve the experience for our hiring managers and temporary employees.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead WM New Zealand’s temporary workforce strategy and support future workforce planning.
  • Manage recruitment agency relationships, including performance reviews, contract renewals, SLA compliance, KPI tracking and escalations.
  • Oversee and continuously improve temporary workforce processes within SmartRecruiters.
  • Support hiring managers with workforce planning, agency engagement, onboarding processes and best-practice guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant temporary workforce information across SmartRecruiters, JDE and workforce dashboards.
  • Monitor temporary workforce spend, tenure, trends and agency performance, providing monthly reports and actionable insights to key stakeholders.
  • Oversee agency invoicing, purchase orders and payment processes, working with Finance to resolve cost or invoice discrepancies promptly.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce temporary labour costs, improve operational efficiency and strengthen compliance.
  • Develop and deliver briefings or workshops to build hiring manager capability.
  • Ensure temporary workforce practices comply with internal policies, employment legislation, privacy requirements and workplace health and safety standards.

Qualifications

What you’ll need

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience in agency, supplier, account or stakeholder management.
  • Strong invoicing, purchase order or financial administration experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills and the ability to turn data into meaningful insights and recommendations.

  • Strong relationship management and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and follow processes through to completion.
  • Confidence learning systems such as SmartRecruiters, JDE and reporting dashboards.
