HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Conduct data analysis, visualization, and reporting projects related to workforce statistics and data for Human Resources and Staff Services and agency management, as well as legislative interests and public information requests. Conduct analysis of and research on data to design and develop queries and report and illustrate data using data visualization platforms.
  • Utilize data visualization platforms and tools to develop data illustrations and dashboards ensuring accurate representation of data and meaningful insights for leadership decision making. Consult with customers to identify business needs to design and deliver workforce and HR-related reports, including the development ad hoc report queries and data visualizations.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing and data verification for CAPPS and HRIS reporting functionality. Develop SOPs and guidance documents based on new or existing systems and data functionality. Contribute to the division’s commitment towards continuous process improvement. 
  • Utilize reporting software to ensure valid data is imported from one database into another. Identify, research, and elevate data discrepancies within appropriate databases to Work Leader. Provide recommendations on mitigating data issues and deploy those methods to correct issues.
  • Serve as back-up to the HRSS Web Developer; review content and documents to be published on agency websites to ensure conformance with agency standards, as well as compliance with accessibility requirements. Assist with developing webpages and making documents accessible.
 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Four years of full-time experience in data analysis, data research, data compilation; and/or reporting work.
OR
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, computer science, environmental science, mathematics, statistics or a related field; plus two years of the required experience.
OR
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; plus, three years of the required experience.
***Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2).  Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

WORK SCHEDULE
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Career & Staff Services Division.
