PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Team Lead, Regulatory Reporting supports the preparation, review, and submission of regulatory financial statements and external disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Canadian and U.S. regulatory accounting requirements. Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Reporting, this role balances hands-on regulatory reporting responsibilities with direct people leadership for a small team of regulatory reporting professionals.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Directly manage 2–3 regulatory reporting professionals, including work assignment, prioritization, daily supervision, support onboarding and training of new team members
  • Prepare and review regulatory financial statements, schedules, and supporting analyses for submission to Canadian and U.S. regulatory agencies
  • Perform and review journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and data validation related to regulatory reporting
  • Ensure regulatory filings and disclosures comply with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Apply and explain differences between regulatory accounting requirements and U.S. GAAP
  • Partner with Finance and business teams to gather, validate, and analyze financial and operational data
  • Review team member deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established controls
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and ongoing performance feedback
  • Support continuous improvement of regulatory reporting processes, controls, and documentation
  • Assist with system and process changes impacting regulatory reporting

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent) required or in progress
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or regulatory reporting
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing work and providing guidance to other accountants
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and regulatory accounting principles
  • Hands-on experience with SAP, Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work effectively with large datasets
