idealo is hiring a Team Lead for SEO Engineering in Berlin onsite, full-time or part-time, to guide a seven engineer team in dual leadership with the product manager, driving data driven development and automation of SEO services. Millions of people use search engines such as Google to find products they would like to buy. The goal of our development team is to implement technical solutions, that push idealo to the top search result positions enabling our customers to find great deals. To achieve this goal, our team centralises and operates services for the calculation and provision of SEO data (indexation, crawler management and internal linking) delivered via front-ends.    


We are looking for a Team Lead (m|f|x), either full-time or part-time, to manage a team of seven engineerings (including one staff engineer) in dual leadership with the product manager. Our team’s core philosophy is data-driven development, automatize as much as possible, enabling and working at eye level with our stakeholders.

About your new role  

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team through mentoring, feedback, and management support

  • Foster self-organization, ownership, and effective collaboration within the team

  • Drive hiring, onboarding, and employee development initiatives

  • Encourage the team to evaluate new technologies, AI capabilities, and evolving industry standards

  • Drive innovation and experimentation within the team by encouraging curiosity, learning, and continuous improvement

Operations & Delivery

  • Create an environment where existing processes, tools, and engineering practices are regularly challenged and optimized together with the team

  • Manage resource and capacity planning, including on-call and vacation scheduling

Strategy & Organizational Excellence

  • Define and monitor operational KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives

  • Support organizational development and collaboration as part of the leadership team

  • Acts as a bridge between engineering, operations, and other departments to foster alignment and scalable standards

  • Ensure compliance with legal, security, and company standards while balancing efficiency, scalability, and resilience

  • Support budget planning, cost monitoring, and operational efficiency initiatives

Requirements

Skills & Requirements 

  • At least 3 years of experience leading software development teams, ideally as Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Team Lead. .

  • Strong interest in technology trends, modern ways of working, and AI developments; a technical background is a plus, but not required.

  • Comfortable discussing technical topics with engineering teams and facilitating informed decision-making, without the expectation of actively developing or reviewing code.

  • Strong communication skills with a clear, transparent, and structured communication style.

  • Empathetic and people-first leadership mindset focused on trust, feedback, team growth, and creating a motivating work environment.

  • Ability to make well-balanced decisions in complex and fast-moving environments.

  • Experience in process optimization, prioritization, and resource/capacity planning.

  • Experience with agile methodologies, incremental value delivery, and continuous improvement.

  • Good understanding of scalable, resilient, and maintainable software development practices.

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills. Proficiency in German on level C1 or C2 is a plus.
