Transport for NSW is seeking a proactive Team Leader in Dubbo to supervise road maintenance and construction crews, coordinate contractors, and drive safety, quality and on-time delivery. In this role, you'll:
• Supervise and lead team members, and coordinate external contractors to deliver road maintenance and/or construction projects in accordance with specifications and established work practices, under the direction of the Works Supervisor or Project Engineer.
• Support team processes and development to achieve agreed work plans and project requirements.
• Undertake road maintenance, minor patching, and general labouring tasks using plant, equipment, and both powered and non-powered tools.
• Ensure maintenance and construction activities are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in line with TfNSW specifications and operational requirements.
• Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and the ability to resolve issues effectively.
• Contribute to improved productivity through active participation in daily team discussions.
• Collaborate with team members to identify challenges and implement practical, effective solutions.
• Apply strong interpersonal skills to manage and resolve conflicts with team members and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to team members within a road maintenance and/or construction environment, taking accountability for both individual and team outcomes.
• Manage routine issues in line with established procedures and escalate or recommend solutions for more complex matters to minimise risk and achieve objectives.
• Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture by promoting collaboration and effectively resolving conflicts.
• Implement, communicate, and monitor Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.
• Deliver training and support to team members, including conducting toolbox talks and site inductions.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Dubbo within the Western Plains Maintenance and Delivery team.
The role may require:
• Working outside standard hours
• Camping away from home
• Attending after-hours callouts

About you
We are seeking a proactive and organised leader with extensive knowledge and experience in road maintenance and/or construction, capable of providing strong leadership to bring out the best in their team while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
You will demonstrate:
• Proven experience in road maintenance and/or construction
• Experience supervising or leading small teams
• Ability to operate in a complex, high-risk environment
• Experience coordinating and managing contractors
• Ability to use technology to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness
Essential Requirements:
• Current Construction Industry White Card
• Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control qualifications
• Valid Australian Class C driver licence
• Willingness to obtain additional licences, certifications, or training as required
• Applicants must reside within 100 km of the Dubbo depot to meet WHS and fatigue management requirements.
Desirable:
• Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) driver licence
