Mō te tūranga - About the role

As a Test Engineer - Schemes in our Enterprise and Pacific Payments, Tribe you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions through strategic test planning, automation, and execution primarily across projects in the schemes compliance and the wider card switching space, with potential to support broader initiatives in the payment’s domain.

This role exists to champion quality at every stage of the development lifecycle, leveraging deep testing expertise, critical thinking, and strong collaboration to mentor others, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to a culture of excellence, whether working autonomously or within cross-functional teams.

The Test Engineer - Schemes position is a key and impactful role with a broad range of responsibilities. Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Collaborating with stakeholders and delivery partners to understand customer needs and align testing efforts with business direction
• Analysing requirements, designing and executing test cases, and contributing to test deliverables across all phases of testing
• Identifying and managing risks, issues, and dependencies related to testing, while ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory standards
• Communicating progress, challenges, and solutions effectively within the team and across delivery streams
• Mentoring team members, promoting knowledge sharing, and continuously improving testing tools, processes, and quality outcomes

This position will be supporting an ongoing project in Card Switch Scheme Compliance and you’ll be encouraged to bring your unique perspective to make the role your own.

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Strong experience and practical application of the principles of functional and non-functional testing
• An agile and open mindset, able to consider new ideas and approaches to complex situations
• Excellent documentation skills, creating clear traceability between overall business requirements through to team stories and related testing
• In-depth knowledge of the Card Switch eco-system including POS, ATM and relevant messaging formats such as ISO8583 and AS2805
• Good hands-on experience using Paysim and Schemes Simulators
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-managing and a self-starting quality, along with the ability to work independently or in a team
• Jira ticket management skills, including Xray
• Adaptability, comfortable working in a change environment with the ability to adjust your style to fit the team or project needs
