NZ Safety Blackwoods is seeking a Part Time Trade Sales Assistant for our Palmerston North Trade Centre. The role blends front line customer service with storeman duties, basic computer work and light manual handling, totaling 8.5 hours per week (Saturday 9:00 am to 2:30 pm) with the remaining 3 hours to be discussed at interview. You’ll be the first point of contact for customers, identify needs, upsell, liaise with suppliers, maintain stock and dispatch goods. Our ideal candidate has proven retail or trade sales experience, is sales driven, an excellent communicator and a problem solver who thrives in a fast paced environment and can use POS and Outlook. It’s an exciting time to join NZ Safety Blackwoods! We are looking for a Trade Sales Assistant to join our tight-knit team at our Trade Centre in Palmerston North.

Hours of work are Part time 8.5 hours per week (9:00am – 2:30pm Saturday), and specific times of work for the remaining 3 hours to be discussed at interview.

This isn’t your standard sales role! Its varied and fun! Other aspects of the role include storeman work, computer work and some manual handling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be the first point of call for customers walking through the door
• Interact with customers, identifying their needs and presenting solutions across our wide range of products and services
• Customer service that grows sales and loyalty
• Provide world class customer service - Ensuring customers are always the number one priority
• Upsell at every opportunity
• Liaise with support teams including suppliers by phone, email etc to ensure customer requirements are met accurately and on time.
• Ability to assist, maintain and improve store presentation and visual merchandising standards and selection of products to sell
• Maintain stock levels on shelves ensuring appropriate stock rotation
• Handling, packing and dispatching inwards and outwards goods
• Assist with maintaining accurate inventory within the store

• Will have proven experience in a similar role within the retail, sales and/or trade sector
• Sales driven with a desire to exceed targets and be rewarded for high performance
• A friendly, outgoing personality with excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and a team player
• Be able to quickly build long lasting relationships
• A problem solver who is able to turn challenging situations into a win/win
• Will have a passion for customer service coupled with a ‘can do attitude’
• Will be physically able and thrive on working in a fast paced environment
• Have computer skills to process point of sales counter sales, use of outlook for emails etc
