NZ Safety Blackwoods is hiring a part-time Trade Sales Assistant for our Rotorua Trade Centre to deliver great customer experiences in a busy trade environment. This Saturday-only role runs 9:00am to 12:00pm with potential for extra hours. You’ll split time between customer service, stock management, merchandising and light manual handling, reporting to Trade Centre Manager. The ideal candidate is sales-minded, loves helping customers, and can build relationships, upsell and solve problems. PPE, hardware or apparel knowledge is an advantage; you should be confident with POS and Outlook. It’s an exciting time to join NZ Safety Blackwoods! We’re looking for a Trade Sales Assistant to join our tight-knit team in our Rotorua Trade Centre.

This is a part-time role working Saturdays only, 9:00am – 12:00pm (3 hours per week), with the opportunity to work additional hours when team members are on leave or extra support is required.

Reporting to the Trade Centre Manager, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, solving problems, and being part of a busy trade-focused environment.

Are you an experienced salesperson who loves helping customers find what they need for the job they're doing? Having good knowledge of PPE, hardware or apparel will be a definite advantage.

This isn’t your standard sales role! It’s varied, hands-on, and rewarding, with a mix of customer service, store operations, stock management and some manual handling.

Key Responsibilities

• Be the first point of call for customers walking through the door.
• Interact with customers, identifying their needs and presenting solutions across our wide range of products and services.
• Deliver customer service that drives sales and builds customer loyalty.
• Provide world-class customer service, ensuring customers are always the number one priority.
• Upsell at every opportunity.
• Assist with maintaining and improving store presentation, visual merchandising standards and product selection.
• Maintain stock levels on shelves and ensure appropriate stock rotation.
• Handle, pack and dispatch inward and outward goods.
• Assist with maintaining accurate inventory within the store.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience in a similar role within the retail, sales and/or trade sector.
• Sales-driven with a desire to exceed targets and deliver results.
• Friendly and outgoing with excellent communication skills and a strong team focus.
• Able to quickly build and maintain lasting customer relationships.
• A problem-solver who can turn challenging situations into positive outcomes.
• Passionate about customer service with a proactive, can-do attitude.
• Physically capable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident using computer systems, including point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Outlook.
