Bertelsmann in Birmingham is hiring a Trainee Management Accountant to be based onsite at Hams Hall. Salary up to £28,000 plus 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will support the month end close with accruals and prepayments, ensure invoice processing accuracy and proper cost allocation in the P&L, help maintain the PO process and sub ledgers, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, analyse monthly spend and provide clear financial insight to stakeholders, and back Business Partners with budgeting, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives, including audits. The ideal candidate is AAT qualified with strong data analysis and Excel skills, data visualization ability, and excellent communication, with a proactive, multi tasking mindset. We are seeking a highly motivated Management Accountant to join our Finance function. This role will support the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, ensure robust financial controls, and provide insightful analysis to support business decision-making.

 

Your Tasks

  • Support the month-end close process, including the preparation and posting of accruals and prepayments
  • Ensure compliance and accuracy of invoice processing, confirming costs are correctly allocated within the Profit and Loss account
  • Support the Purchase Order process and maintain integrity and accuracy within the sub-ledger
  • Prepare and maintain clear, complete and accurate balance sheet reconciliations as part of the month-end process
  • Analyse monthly expenditure and provide clear, concise financial insight to stakeholders
  • Support Business Partners with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, process improvement initiatives and ad-hoc requests
  • Participate in internal and external audits and additional compliance activities

 

Your Profile

  • AAT qualified
  • Strong data analysis and financial reporting skills, including data visualisation
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the organisation and present financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders
  • Proactive and professional approach, demonstrating ownership, initiative, sound judgement and the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to think critically, identify issues and contribute to continuous improvement
