Contract Duration: 4 - 6 months (Summer)

Location: Saskatoon, SK 

Wage: $24 - $31 / Hour

We are looking for a Trait Development Field Associate to join our AP team in Saskatoon, SK.

BASF’s Agricultural Solutions division connects innovation, customers, partners and agricultural experts and integrates sustainability criteria into all business decisions. Students will be hired and employed through a third-party contracting agency - Raise Recruiting.  Opportunities are based on business needs at our sites.

As a Trait Development Associate , you create chemistry by being involved in ...

• The advancement of new traits to be developed in support of local and global programs. 
• Field activities relating to new trait development from seeding to harvest including:
  
  • Seed set up 
  • Land preparation 
  • Seeding 
  • Pest control 
  • Pollination management 
  • Plot maintenance 
  • Harvesting 
  • Supervision of casual employees (as required) 
  • Ensuring standard operating procedures 
• Compliance monitoring and maintenance of the trial site isolation areas and post-harvest sites for the presence of prohibited species by scouting fields.
• Maintaining the sites for a standard expected by our organization and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency using techniques such as spraying, tilling, burning, hand roguing and mowing.
• Ensuring standard operating procedures are maintained and followed.

If you have...

• Strong agronomic competence attained through pursuing or having obtained your degree in Agriculture or another college along with experience in the Agriculture Industry.  
• Demonstrated problem solving skills.  
• Ability to be flexible and modify plans as situations arise minimizing impact on results.  
• Interest in canola development.  
• Ability to deliver results in pursuit of both individual and team goals.
• Ability to be comfortable being on the road for extended periods of time, driving highway and grid roads to get to active trial or post harvest sites.
