Australian Military Bank is seeking a Transaction Monitoring Specialist in Sydney, full time onsite, reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Crime Operations. The role focuses on mitigating AML/CTF risk through investigating daily transaction monitoring alerts, submitting SMRs, maintaining KYC including ECDD, and handling ongoing monitoring and reporting obligations for SMR, TTR and IFTI, PEPs, sanctions, fraud and card disputes. You will assess and develop Transaction Monitoring rules, present monthly activity, deliver AML/CTF training, and collaborate across the bank including with law enforcement, vendors and external partners. Successful candidates typically have at least two years in a similar role, solid investigation of alerts and unusual activity referrals, and strong communication and stakeholder skills; rule development experience is a plus. About the role

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Financial Crime Operations and is primarily focused on mitigating Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing risks. Responsibilities include conducting detailed investigations of transaction monitoring alerts, assessing transaction monitoring rules, KYC including ECDD, ongoing monitoring and reporting obligations of SMR, TTR and IFTI, PEPs, Sanctions, Fraud, Scams and Card Disputes.   • Investigation of daily transaction monitoring alerts
  • Review and submission of SMRs
  • Sound understanding and working knowledge of the AML/CTF program: Part A and Part B regulatory requirements.
  • Ongoing assessment of Transaction Monitoring rule effectiveness
  • Development and implementation of new Transaction Monitoring Rules
  • Monthly reporting and presentation of Transaction Monitoring activities
  • Development and delivery of AML/CTF training with the team and across the bank
  • Identification and management of AML/CTF risks
  • Knowledge of and experience with AUSTRAC reporting requirements 
  • Interact with external partners such as law enforcement agencies, vendors, and banks to action requests and validate information
  • Involvement in Financial Crime related projects

About You

To be successful in the role you will demonstrate the below key attributes and experience:

  • Investigation of Transaction Monitoring Alerts and Unusual Activity Referrals
  • Suspicious Matter Reporting
  • Understanding of ECDD, TTR and IFTI requirements
  • Minimum 2 years in similar role
  • Excellent presentation, written and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Rule assessment and development experience desired but not a requirement
