RACV is hiring a Travel Sales Consultant for the Ballarat store, a permanent full-time role with part-time options, onsite Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm with occasional events. The ideal candidate has retail travel sales experience, a Certificate III in Travel (preferred), Amadeus or Sabre experience, and strong service, organisation and communication skills; you must work well independently and in a team and attend a 2 to 3 week induction in CBD Melbourne with travel costs covered. About the Opportunity    

 

Are you passionate about travel? An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Travel Sales Consultants to join our industry leading travel agency team of experts in the RACV Ballarat store. We pride ourselves on delivering great service and creating unforgettable travel experiences for our customers.

As a Retail Travel Sales Consultant, you will utilise your exceptional customer service skills and share your extensive knowledge of global destinations and passion for travel. You will be responsible for creating personalised travel itineraries managing the customer experience from beginning to end. 

Your key responsibilities for the role include: 

  • Promote holiday packages, flights, hotels, cruises, tours, experiences & travel insurance 
  • Build relationships with customers face to face and online, managing new enquiries, quotes, itineraries, amendments and cancellations 
  • Facilitate domestic & international travel bookings and payments between travellers & suppliers, using Amadeus GDS 
  • Convert enquiries into confirmed bookings, cross selling & up selling of travel products 
  • Manage travel credits, refunds and changes 
  • Attend sales meetings and achieve targets & KPIs 
  • Attend industry events ie. supplier & product events, ship inspections & travel expos
     

Our Ballarat retail store is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Our team work during these hours with the requirement to attend occasional out of office industry events. The business may consider increasing to a 7-day trade in the future. 

 

What you’ll need to be successful    

  • Retail travel sales agency experience, essential 
  • Certificate 3 in Travel or higher, preferred 
  • GDS experience in Amadeus, Sabre preferred  
  • Passion for travel industry and personal travel experience 
  • Great customer service & communication skills  
  • Excellent organisational, attention to detail & problem solving skills 
  • Ability to manage workflow, set goals, meet sales targets & work productively 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent personal presentation 
  • Ability to attend induction training Monday-Friday for the first 2-3 weeks in CBD Melbourne head office & store. Your public transport travel costs will be covered by RACV.
