Summary
The Treasury Analyst supports the Assistant Treasurer in liquidity and cash management, short-term cash flow forecasting, treasury banking platform administration, financial risk monitoring, financial analysis, record retention, audit and compliance with policies and other related activities in support of the College's treasury operations.
Job Duties
Cash Management
- Manages the College’s daily cash position and works with the Assistant Treasurer to ensure accounts are properly funded to cover operational needs (Payroll, AP, Debt Service, etc.).
- Enters and/or approves wire transfers and cash movement across BCM bank accounts as directed.
- Works with the Assistant Treasurer to recommend and execute daily actions related to short-term borrowings and repayments.
- Helps identify financial risks related to banking and cash management operations and recommends mitigating strategies, as required.
- Supports the treasury technology and banking infrastructure that impacts disbursements, collections, reporting, etc.
- Assists the Assistant Treasurer in maintaining the College's long-term debt by ensuring timely payments of principal and interest on all facilities such as bonds, swap derivatives and other instruments.
- Regularly interacts with relationship managers and customer service staff with commercial banks and other financial institutions to address operational needs.
- Recognized as a subject matter expert internally. Provides guidance, coaching and training to other BCM department staff on treasury related matters, banking practices, solutions and products.
- Supports Treasury related projects and collaborates with other stakeholders internal (AP, IT, Finance, Institutional Advancement, etc.) and external (banks, merchant services provider, financial vendors, etc.)
- Acts as a backup to the College’s cashiers.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepares and maintains liquidity forecasts and reports.
- Prepares monthly reconciliations of cash flows, interest payments, bank fees, cash accounts and supporting documentation.
- Ensures compliance with GAAP and institutional policies.
- Supports the preparation of financial statements, internal cash and liquidity reports, and audit schedules.
- Supports audit requests by preparing documentation.
- Monitors accounts for unexpected activity and takes or recommends corrective actions as needed.
Collaboration and Customer Service
- Partners with cash accountants and departmental finance teams to ensure accurate cash application and reporting.
- Serves as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding daily cash inquiries.
- Provides guidance to staff and faculty on cash-related processes and timelines.
- Contributes to developing efficient treasury processes for cash management, recording, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Assists in implementing system improvements and internal controls to strengthen cash management practices.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in treasury or cash management (experience in healthcare or higher education preferred).
- Certified Treasury Professional Certification (CTP).
- Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and familiarity with major banking workstations.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., S4 HANA) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, and sponsors.
