Are you driven to make a real difference in the world of traffic management and safety? At Fulton Hogan, we’re looking for a passionate leader to take charge of our Traffic Management Department in Whangarei and set the standard for “Good Work.”

As our TTM Department Manager in Whangārei, you’ll guide a dedicated team and help create safer roads, efficient operations, and positive customer experiences every single day. Your outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to individuals at all levels and foster a supportive environment for employees navigating dynamic and constantly evolving work schedules will be highly regarded and ensure the team operates to the highest safety, environmental and quality standards, while getting the job done right—the first time.

In addition to the above you will:  

  • Lead a team of skilled Traffic Management professionals, providing direction, motivation, and genuine care.

  • Oversee all operational aspects—pricing, tenders, quoting, planning, and organising resources to ensure smooth delivery of services.

  • Drive a strong safety-first culture by ensuring team members pause for safety, follow procedures, and actively look for better and safer ways to work.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.

  • Mentor and develop staff so everyone can deliver their best and feel proud of a job well done.

  • Ensure accurate and timely reports, claims, and contract administration.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Engineering qualifications (BE, NZCE, Diploma) or significant relevant industry experience.

  • At least 5 years’ practical and progressive experience in traffic management or a closely related field.

  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and grow high-performing teams.

  • Safety-related certification (preferred).

  • Top-notch organisational, operational, and financial acumen.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Positive, reliable and practical approach to solving problems.

  • Current class 1 driver’s licence.

  • Above all—a genuine “good sort” who treats people with respect, leads by example, and loves to get stuck in!
