Veterinary Nurse Assistant | Part-time or Full-time position - Late Shift 5pm to 12am

As a Nurse Assistant with ARH Canberra, you will be a key part of the veterinary care team, helping to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to our patients in a collaborative and professional environment. Working under the guidance of experienced veterinary nurses, veterinarians, and other team members, you will contribute to the overall wellbeing of patients and the smooth function of the hospital. 

Duties will include: 

  • Assist veterinary nurses and veterinarians as required 
  • Monitor and care for hospitalized patients (under the guidance of the ECC team) 
  • Administer medications as directed by the ECC team 
  • Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of hospital facilities 
  • Handle and restrain animals with care and compassion 
  • Animal cage cleaning and re-setting, cleaning patient bowls etc. 
  • Walking, feeding and offering water to patients under nurse instruction 
  • Restocking disposables (needles, syringes etc) and pharmacy (medication) 
  • Maintaining cleanliness of hospital areas throughout the day/evening as required, including floors in treatment, ICU and ward spaces 
  • Daily laundry upkeep

About you: 

  • Completed or currently enrolled in Cert IV in Vet Nursing, Associate Degree of Vet Nursing or Bachelor's Degree of Vet Nursing
  • Previous experience in the animal care industry highly desirable 
  • Adaptable and enthusiastic 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
  • Ability to handle animals with gentleness and confidence
