The Role
This role is part of HSBC Innovation Banking UK’s Strategy & Insights team. The mission of the team is to drive smart revenue growth. The Strategy & Insights team is committed to driving sustainable revenue growth by strategically integrating business intelligence with market insights. Leveraging a deep understanding of the innovation ecosystem, market trends, client needs, and revenue drivers, we translate insight into clear, actionable direction.

The Strategy & Insights team leverages deep expertise in sales growth strategy to design and deliver high-impact revenue initiatives. Using rigorous, structured problem-solving, we tackle complex and emerging challenges, drive innovation, and optimise the operating model. We proactively identify new revenue opportunities and close performance gaps to improve overall effectiveness. To ensure successful delivery, we partner with executive stakeholders to secure sponsorship, funding, and the support needed for implementation. Ultimately, we’re accountable for delivering growth strategies that align to business objectives and enable long-term organisational success.

 

As a VP I (Vice President I), Strategy & Insights, you will be influencing strategic decision making and have a proven track record of adding value to the business and successful collaboration with senior sales leadership. This will include cross-team collaboration, leveraging Marketing, Product and Analytical teams as well as own research to uncover insights, that will optimise sales strategy. The VP1 will then formulate the strategy into an actionable plan, gain support from leadership through impactful communication and project manage the initiative’s implementation.

You will report to our Vice President II, Strategy & Insights, and sit within the wider HSBC Innovation Banking UK's Commercial Office.

 

The role has the following responsibilities:
• Leverage business and market intelligence to foster strategic communication with C-suite and senior leadership, shaping strategies to maintain competitive edge and optimise our growth strategy and operating model
• Recommend and influence decisions on key sales performance indicators and tracking sales performance to understand success of our strategy
• Recognise new strategic opportunities to expand revenue and roadmaps to achieve them
• Bring consistency to end-to-end Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy by defining best practices, and driving behavioural change through a comprehensive sales enablement programme
• Lead critical strategic growth initiatives and translate GTM strategy into action plans that drive execution and increase revenues
• Break down informational silos to ensure business decisions are based on the entire story and empower data-driven decision making to raise our returns
• Increase efficiency through technology, automation and optimising cross department processes allowing our sales teams to spend more time in the market and grow our sales
• Build competitive advantage through thought leadership and position HSBC Innovation Banking (HINV) as the leader of innovative content
• Guide sales resource allocation & FTE planning to maximise our returns
• Effectively manage priorities and multitude of C-suite and senior leadership stakeholders, to ensure delivery on our key objectives
• Proactively shape strategy on enhancing the Strategy & Insights proposition, including operating model, offshore strategy and strategic sales technology.

 

Requirements (Skills/experience):
• Strong leadership skills with proven experience coaching and mentoring associates, helping them build capability and improve performance.
• Team player who has solid experience of working cross-functionally across departments and moves fast while juggling large number of projects – all while keeping close attention to detail and managing multitude of c-suite and senior stakeholders
• Strong experience building rapport with c-suite and senior leadership and ability to challenge conventional thinking with resilience and resourcefulness to make a change happen
• Proven high achiever / peer outperformer with entrepreneurial can-do attitude, exceptional drive and proactiveness, and self-motivation
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to demonstrate efforts taken to further personal development
• Effective problem solver – a track record of increasing sales productivity through technology, automation and optimising cross department processes
• Proven ability to craft and deliver strategic narratives that drive alignment, influence executive stakeholders, and support high-impact business decisions (incl. creation of high-quality pitch decks)
• Track record of successful identifying, driving and delivering on opportunities that increased revenues
• Robust business judgement and acumen, proven experience developing business strategy – strategy consulting, in-house strategy or M&A experience desired
• Strong understanding of technology, life sciences, start-up, venture capital and corporate finance ecosystems
• Understanding of commercial banking structure, products, and business model
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Highly advanced (power user) of Microsoft Power Point and Excel, with ability to translate data and insights into strategic recommendation
• Familiarity with sales tools such as CRM Dynamics, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outreach, Qlik, PitchBook, Beauhurst, CapIQ etc. desired

 

Where you’ll be based:
Our home office in Finsbury Square, London. We offer hybrid working to our employees, so you can flex between home and the office, with a current requirement to be in the office 2 days per week.
