Danfoss seeks a Water Spider for 3rd shift in Ames, IA, a full‑time, on‑site role that keeps materials and paperwork stocked at the point of use and coordinates just‑in‑time transport to maximize operator and machine efficiency. You’ll plan and communicate material needs for the next job, partner with Material Handlers, Planners and Receiving, and keep storage organized while adapting quickly to priority changes. The ideal candidate is a proactive team player with strong communication, highly organized, energized by problem solving, and proficient in MS Office; forklift, SAP, or prior assembly or material handling experience is preferred. The Water Spider is responsible for keeping materials and paperwork required to perform an operation stocked at the point of use in assigned production areas. This position is also accountable for the general organization of materials in the assigned area and for monitoring ERP data to identify potential issues, material shortages, and impacts to production. In the “just‑in‑time” concept, Water Spiders manage all material transport throughout the processes. This allows operators to focus on value‑adding activities while supporting the overall efficiency and effectiveness of both operators and machines. The Water Spider will spend the majority of their day on the shop floor.
This is a 3rd Shift position, with work hours 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee regularly is required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee occasionally lifts up to 35 pounds and uses a cart to push up to 100 pounds regularly.
While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee has the potential to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is at a level the company recommends hearing protection. The employee must be physically able to wear appropriate PPE.
