We’re looking for Automation Test Engineers to Planit’s Automation Practice and work with cutting edge tools, frameworks and AI to redefine how quality is delivered for leading NZ clients.

This is a Wellington based role and Wellington market experience preferred 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain automated tests
  • Contribute to the evolution of our test automation frameworks 
  • Integration of automated tests with CI/CD pipelines 
  • Execute tests, analyse results and raise clear, actionable defects 
  • Contribute to regression, functional and basic non‑functional testing 
  • Produce and maintain test documentation where required
  • Be a good communicator, able to collaborate with client teams, people to define test cases and acceptance criteria
  • Learn new tools as needed and are able to provide recommendations when required
  • Understand how your actions in testing and quality impact upon clients and their customers
  • Enjoy change and new challenges. This is a Consulting role 
  • Proactively contribute to the development of assets and frameworks within Planit Practices, sharing your knowledge and capability with your team and Planit
  • Be passionate about quality practices within IT delivery 

 

Skills & experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in software testing, including solid test automation experience 
    • Hands‑on experience with at least one major automation framework  (e.g. Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright, REST Assured, Appium) 
    • Programming/scripting skills in one or more languages (e.g. Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python) 
    • Experience testing RESTful APIs and integrating tests with CI/CD tools 
    • Good understanding of agile development (Scrum/Kanban) 
    • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to testing 
    • Good communication skills and ability to work in a cross‑functional teams
    • A willingness to grow and learn
    • Eligible to work in New Zealand

 

Nice to have

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) 

  • Familiarity with test management tools (e.g. Jira, ADO)

  • Motivated to explore and maximise use of AI in testing

  • Local experience and wide variety of domain knowledge preferred
