MSD is hiring a permanent full-time Work Broker based in Mt Maunganui with travel around the Western Bay of Plenty. To be successful in this role, you’ll need relevant or transferrable experience in business development, recruitment, or labour market engagement—particularly where you’ve worked closely with employers to meet their workforce needs—is highly advantageous.


 
As a Work Broker, you’ll build strong relationships with employers, understand their hiring needs, and connect them with the right candidates. You’ll advocate for clients, promote their skills, and support them through the job placement process.


 
This role is well-suited to those with a background in recruitment, account management, business development, or industry experience across healthcare, construction, retail, education and training, manufacturing, or horticulture.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers to create job opportunities and support sustainable employment outcomes.
  • Work closely with businesses to establish and promote vacancies, manage the recruitment process, and assist with onboarding and induction.
  • Educate employers on MSD’s products and services, ensuring they are aware of available support and incentives.
  • Work with colleagues across the region, this includes Case Managers to connect clients to seasonal and permanent work.
  • Advocate for clients by matching them to suitable roles and promoting their skills to potential employers.
  • Ensure that internal systems are kept up to date, recording all interactions with employers and clients.
  • Work with the Labour Market Team to complement Immigration, Skills for Industry and Cadetship work programmes.

What you bring | Ōu pūmanawatanga:

 

  • Proven experience in recruitment, sales, account management, business development, or similar roles where building strong relationships with employers was essential.
  • Experience collaborating with regional labour market teams or in roles focused on addressing local employment needs and creating job opportunities.
  • Results-driven mindset with the ability to meet job placement targets, manage competing priorities, and remain resilient through challenges.
  • Confident in cold calling, networking, and using digital tools to connect with employers and uncover new opportunities.
  • Strong ability to identify job opportunities and tailor your approach—whether through an elevator pitch, proposal, or meeting—based on employer needs and current labour market trends.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel within the region to meet with employers and attend engagement activities as needed.
     

A full NZ Driver Licence and the ability to travel around the Western Bay of Plenty region are essential for this role.
