Two Working Students are sought to support a University of Würzburg collaboration on cellular networks. Join emnify’s research team onsite in Würzburg to explore how mobile core network metadata can improve platform quality, reliability and security, supervised by emnify and collaborating with university researchers. Analyze device and network behavior, build data extraction and preparation tools with scripts and SQL, and for larger tasks use frameworks like Flink, while contributing to the MARK platform. Requirements: solid programming fundamentals, SQL, an interest in data analysis, a structured approach, and adaptability; AWS is a plus. To apply, tailor your résumé to highlight relevant coursework and projects and show collaboration with academia or industry.

We are looking for two Working Students to support a research collaboration with the University of Würzburg (Informatik III) on the future of cellular networks. You will join an emnify engineering research team and contribute to exploring how mobile core network metadata can be used to improve platform quality, reliability, and security. You will be supervised by emnify and collaborate with university researchers as part of the project. The position is based in Würzburg, Germany.

Your Impact

  • Work with mobile core network metadata to investigate patterns in device and network behavior. Help answer research questions and validate hypotheses with data.
  • Develop tools for extraction, transformation, and data preparation for data analysis, depending on the task and your experience based on simple scripts and SQL, or bigger frameworks like Apache Flink.
  • Improve the MARK measurement platform and help with global expansion of measurement boxes.
  • Document your work and communicate progress in a collaborative research setup (emnify and university).

Your Skills

  • Hands-on experience with programming fundamentals through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and interest in data analysis or data engineering.
  • Ability to break down problems, work in a structured way, and share progress clearly.
  • Comfortable working in a setting where tasks can evolve as the research progresses.
  • Nice to have: exposure to cloud platforms, ideally AWS.
